How To Properly Break In Bridal Shoes
You just got a pair of brand new bridal shoes that you are going to wear for your big dream wedding. In your excitement, you completely forgot that you need to break them in first. Thus, what should be a night of grandeur, a new life, memories, and romance was turned into an evening of blisters and cramps.
Prior to using your brand new shoes, it is vital to break them in first. Here are a few tips on how to do just that.
1. Wear them around your house for a week. Experts advice to wear thick cotton athletic socks when breaking in the shoes. The thickness of the sock will help the shoes material expand.
2. Scruff the bottom of each shoe lightly with fine-grained sandpaper or walk on slightly rough ground. This enhances the sole’s grip on the surface.
3. For leather shoes, waterproof the outside of the shoes by spraying it with a waterproof coating treatment. You can get a spray-on treatment that is normally used to rejuvenate the water-resisting capability of tent rainflys. After the coat tries, soak the shoes under clean water for a minute or two. Take them out of the water, wear thick socks, and walk around the house for half an hour. This allows the shoe to mold to your foot.
4. Wear heel liners, which are available in your local drugstore or shoe store. These liners help prevent your heels from chaffing.
5. For particularly tight or stiff shoes, grasp the heel and slowly rock it back and forth. This action slightly loosens the sole. Be careful though not to tear the sole from the rest of the shoe.
