A Quick Guide On What A Woman Should Wear For A Job Interview

A job interviewer often begins to assess you the minute you walk into the interview scene. That’s why it is very important to mind what you’ll be wearing. As they always say, first impressions last. And some interviewers won’t bother to find out more about you if you’re not dressed to impress.

Wear a matching conservative two-piece suit. Dark gray, navy, brown and black are safe colors to wear. Choose a suit with a solid color. Or if you wish to go for patterned ones, go for fine weave or plaid. Put on a matching blouse underneath the suit’s jacket.

With regards to skirts, avoid wearing anything cut higher than the knee. Also, slits should not be revealing. If you intend to wear a pair of pants, go for one that’s custom made for you. This will ensure that it fits well; not too baggy as track pants and not too tight as jean skinny.

Keep jewelries and accessories to a minimum. Pick a stylish and conservative wrist watch. Avoid chunky and jingly bracelets, necklaces and earrings. It’s always a good idea to go for discreet items that go well with your suit. If you need to carry a bag or purse aside from your briefcase, keep it small and simple.

Momentarily stay away from women’s brown boots, strappy sandals, chunky platforms and flashy stilettos. Instead, pick a pair of simple, closed-toe shoes. You can go for flats or heeled that’s about an inch or two high. Also, wear conservative nylon stockings when showing up in a skirt for the interview.

Also, make sure you can walk comfortably in your shoes. The day before the job interview, practice walking in the shoes you’re planning to wear. Especially if you just bought them! You don’t want to trip as you approach the interviewer. That’s not really going to be a pretty first impression.

It’s better to wear makeup than none at all. However, keep it minimal or conservative. Avoid showing up with long nails painted in extreme nail polish colors. Avoid wearing scents that are too sweet, tangy or anything too strong. Use in moderation eau de parfum spray, and go for subtle smelling ones.

If you look good on the outside, you will feel good about yourself and your confidence will shine through. For this reason, it’s important to plan and consider what you’ll be dressed in for a job interview. A potential employer will also base your caliber on what you’re wearing.

To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything [VHS]

$6.00

This clunky road movie about three drag queens (Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguziamo) who get stranded in a sleepy Nebraska town on their way to a beauty contest, is too uplifting for its own good. Released during drag’s mid-’90s heyday when RuPaul and the Wigstock documentary were all the rage, To Wong Foo aimed straight for the mainstream with its inoffensive camp and “can’t we all …
