Sewing/altering a dress larger-adjusting armholes?
I’d like to add some fabric to the side seams of a dress, its a stretch fabric with no darts. I’m not sure what to do about sleeves though? They fit well and I’m not sure how to add fabric without making the armholes too large. could I add a triangular shape to the armhole at the end of the fabric insert? So the armhole is adjusted larger without the sleeve being too big? Does that even make sense?
When adding to the side seams determine how much width is needed and then divide by the number of seams.
This may not make enough difference in the size armscye to require adjusting for sleeves.
If the addition is only needed below the armscye, you may be able to taper in from the bust to the armscye.
