The Aim Of The Orange Tee Shirt
When it comes to dangerous work situations like road works, construction, window washing and so forth, the presence of the safety t-shirt is not to be dismissed. It has been utilized specifically for the sake of safety. It assists in making the person visible and clearly seen especially in places where there is a high density of traffic and other dangerous situations of work. It is not a choice, but a requirement.
In the past many workers wore simple straightforward ones (polyester or cotton), but it has evolved in recent years to the point of special fabrics being used. The material has been specially developed for the work force to make sure that they are comfortable and that their bodies are taken are of. It is also necessary for it to last longer than before, so it needs to be strong and not get washed out on the t-shirts as well as the safety vests. The reflective tape has to last as long as well.
Many manufacturers use different types of material. However, the most recent developed material has become quite popular and most comfortable, which is main idea. It caters for the long hours of work which leads to a lot of sweating. The moisture wicked material helps to keep the worker dry, cool (in summer) and warm (in winter). It simply keeps the sweat away from the body and thus ensures that the body does not overheat or freezes.
The t-shirts are special as they come with the reflective strips as required by law. These are especially required when you work in an area with high traffic density. Safety orange is often the better choice as it has a higher visibility. It also ensures a greater safety for the wearer.
There are two types of classes affecting the wearing of the t-shirt. According to ANSI Class 2 there has to be two tapes running down from the shoulders (back and front) and one horizontal tape around the abdomen area. The ANSI Class 3 has the same specifications except that there are two horizontal bands. The difference is that the class 3 is a requirement for when more visibility is required.
However, because of cost, there is the normal variety available which is made from breathable polyester material. It will, however, not have the same results. It would therefore be important to layer the body when the normal t-shirt is worn (not forgetting the safety vest).
These do come in different styles and long or short sleeves. The long sleeved ones normally have reflective tape on the sleeves as well. If the t-shirt does not have these reflective tapes, make sure you wear your reflective vest over it. This is to protect yourself in your dangerous place of work.
The main aim of the safety t shirts is the visibility element the color has. There are many other neon colors available, but none is as visible as the orange on the t-shirts as well as the safety vests. Being clearly seen in all sorts of weather conditions and times of the day is what is important.
