Derma Rollers come with several needle sizes to suit different skin problems, so it is best to purchase the needle length which will be most effective on the condition or body part you are trying to treat.
Derma Roller needle lengths are available for home use in 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm and for professional use 2.0mm and 2.5mm . Some sites also provide 3 line rollers (with just three lines of needles to improve areas such as around the nose) in 1.0mm and 1.5mm sizes.
Which needle length for stretch marks?
It is recommended to use a 1.0mm Derma Roller for light stretch marks and 1.5mm for deep stretch marks, however it is up to your personal choice as the 1.5mm can appear quite daunting.
The ideal needle size for acne scars or other facial scars?
The 0.5mm is best for light acne scarring, mild chicken pox scars or ice pick scars, or simply regular anti ageing treatments as it is gentler on the sensitive facial skin. A 1.0mm roller is best for worse acne scarring, surgery scars, ice pick or chicken pox scars, and 1.5mm Dermarollers are for extreme scars. A 1.5mm Derma-Roller is the biggest length recommended for use on the face (unless as part of a professional treatment), but your face is more sensitive to treatments than your body, so it is best to go for a shorter needle rather than a big one.
You may also wish to obtain the 3 line roller as it is best to use on certain sections of your face (such as around the nose), but it is not essential as the regular roller may suit you best for all round usage.
What size of Dermaroller is best for hair loss?
For thinning hair or receding hair, the 0.5mm Derma-Roller is fine, with 1mm rollers best choice for more serious hair loss.
What about for Cellulite?
The best needle length for cellulite is 1mm or 1.5mm depending on how severe the case is.
