Womens Program And Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Most women who suffer from an addiction to drugs or alcohol also have some form of mental illness lingering in them. Unfortunately, only 6% of women who develop an addiction will seek and receive the guidance they need to get rid of the addiction. There are a number of reason why women do not regularly seek the treatment they need to get over addictions. It could be that they have children, or it could be that they cannot find a reputable amount of women’s programs in their area. Dual diagnosis programs are also not as readily available to women as they should be in order to effectively combat addiction.Specialized Care
Research shows that many women who suffer from an addiction to drugs or alcohol often have a mental disorder as well. Women can suffer from many things that will help them foster a drug habit. It could be an eating disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or something caused by having been abused. Regardless of the specific condition, it is imperative that women in these circumstances seek immediate help in order to get their drug addiction under control. Otherwise, all you are really doing is treating a symptom (addiction) instead of the disease (mental disorder).

Another issue that many women have to contend with when it comes to treatment for their addiction is their family. Often women are single parents, and have no care for their children. Recently in New Jersey, rehab centers have begun offering on-site childcare. Perhaps if more rehabilitation centers offered such services mothers who need help can get it and ultimately become better mothers and stop the cycle of addiction in their family.

Unfortunately, anyone can succumb to an addiction to drugs or alcohol. It can destroy a life very easily. With women it is common that there are underlying reasons for a drug addiction to manifest itself. If a women has experienced something traumatic in their lives that makes them experience feelings of guilt, shame, or pain this can very easily led to a dependence on drugs or alcohol. It is imperative for women to realize that there are programs out there that are customized for their individual needs. Hopefully, more and more rehabilitation centers will do a better job of providing child care services for women who are single mothers and badly need help for a drug addiction.
It is vital for a person dealing with an addiction to drugs or alcohol to immediately seek medical treatment and counseling. This is especially true for women with children that are single. If they do not they could face serious consequences. They could end up dead or in jail, or even have their children taken from them. There are now many women's program out there that cater to individuals in these scenarios. They offer free daycare programs many times so it is easier to attend treatment. There are also now many dual diagnosis rehab that can help women not only deal with their drug addictions, but with the underlying problems that caused an addiction in the first place.
